From nursery to graduation,
every dirham mapped.

Educating one child from Nursery through Grade 12 in the UAE ranges from around AED 170,000 at the budget end — CBSE-Indian schools in the Northern Emirates — to well over AED 1.4M at the premium end, in a top British or IB school in Dubai. Frequently asked

Education planning, honestly.

01How much does it cost to educate one child in the UAE?
From around AED 170,000 across the entire nursery-to-Grade-12 journey at a CBSE school in the Northern Emirates, to well over AED 1.4M at a top British or IB school in Dubai. The single largest lever is curriculum: CBSE is the budget end, IB and premium British are the top. Emirate is the second lever — schools in Dubai are typically priced well above the same curriculum in Sharjah or the Northern Emirates.
02Why does the calculator inflate fees year by year?
Because real schools do. Each emirate publishes an annual escalation cap: KHDA limits Dubai schools to about 2.35% per year, ADEK to ~2.25%, SPEA to 2.5% on a biennial cycle (~1.25% per year effective), and MOE-licensed schools in the Northern Emirates trend closer to 3%. Compounded over 10–15 years, escalation can add 25–40% to the headline number — ignoring it understates real cost significantly.
03Does the result include uniforms, books, transport and trips?
No. The projection covers tuition only — the line item on the school's annual fee structure as filed with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or MOE. Uniforms (AED 400–1,200/yr), books and devices (AED 1,500–4,000/yr), bus transport (AED 6,000–11,000/yr) and trips can add 10–18% on top, depending on school. Budget that as a separate envelope.
04How accurate are the fees by curriculum?
Typical-fee estimates are calibrated against the published rate cards of around 200 schools across the four UAE regulators, weighted toward the modal Very Good rating. If you have a specific school in mind, pick it in Step 05 — the projection then runs on that school's actual filed annual fees, compounded against the regulator's escalation cap year by year.
05What about ESS (Emirates Schools Sector) public schools?
UAE national public schools (operated by ESS in Abu Dhabi and the federal MOE elsewhere) are free for Emirati nationals. Expatriate access is limited and case-by-case. This calculator focuses on private K-12, which is the path the vast majority of UAE residents use.
06Can I trust this for big planning decisions?
Treat it as a planning tool, not financial advice. Actual fees are set by individual schools, subject to regulator approval, and can change year-to-year within the cap. Always confirm a specific school's published fee schedule on KHDA's school directory, ADEK's rate cards, or the school's own admissions page before committing.
07Why a savings plan from age 3?
Because the math is dramatically friendlier with time. Saving for a Dubai British education from age 3 (15 years runway) needs roughly AED 6,500/month at a 5% real return. Starting at age 10 (8 years runway) for the same school more than doubles the monthly requirement, since you've lost compounding on the early years.
