    What UAE end-of-service actually pays

Both tools below run the same Federal Decree-Law 33/2021 formula. These are the figures they resolve to on the benefits calculator’s own default package, so you can sanity-check your own numbers against them before you start.

Accrual for each of the first 5 years
21 days of basic pay a year — AED 10,500 on a AED 15,000 basic salary
    Accrual from year 6 onwards
30 days a year — AED 15,000, a full month of basic pay
Total after 8 years on that salary
AED 97,500 — and since the 2021 law, resigning does not reduce it
    Statutory ceiling on the payout
2 years of basic pay, which is AED 360,000 at that salary
Housing allowance in a typical package
30% to 40% of basic pay mid-career, 40% to 60% at senior level
Transport allowance in a typical package
    AED 1,500 to AED 3,000 a month mid-career
    Employer health cover, enhanced tier
    AED 2,000 to AED 4,000 a year

Gratuity figures are read out of the same engine the calculators run on (UAE Labour Law — Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021); package bands come from our UAE compensation dataset.

Understanding your employment compensation package and end-of-service benefits is crucial when working in the UAE. Our employment calculators help you compare job offers by analyzing total compensation including base salary, housing allowance, transport allowance, education allowances, health insurance, annual flight tickets, and other benefits. The Employment Benefits Calculator converts all these components into a clear total package value, making it easy to compare offers from different employers and understand the true value of your compensation beyond just the base salary.

The Gratuity Calculator is essential for all UAE employees, as end-of-service benefits are a significant part of your compensation. Under UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021), gratuity is calculated on your years of continuous service and your basic salary — and, since the 2021 law, you keep the same accrual whether you resign or are terminated. Our calculator applies the official formula: 21 days' basic salary for each year of service up to year 5, then 30 days' basic salary for each year beyond that, with pro-rata calculations for partial years and the statutory ceiling of AED 360,000 on a AED 15,000 basic salary applied at the end.

All calculations comply with UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021). Since the 2021 law abolished the old "unlimited" contract, every private-sector contract is now fixed-term, and resignation no longer reduces your gratuity for completed years. A typical package tops the basic salary up with a housing allowance worth 30% to 40% of basic pay, so the gratuity a job actually accrues can differ sharply from what the headline package suggests. Our tools help you understand your rights as an employee, plan your financial future, negotiate better compensation packages, and accurately estimate your end-of-service benefits. Whether you're comparing job offers, planning your career move, or calculating what you're entitled to when your employment ends, these calculators provide accurate, legally compliant estimates based on current UAE employment regulations. Guide to Our UAE Financial Calculators

Yalla Calculators provides UAE-specific financial tools for gratuity, mortgages, property fees, rent vs buy, school fees, visas, and cost of living. Our formulas follow official UAE sources: UAE Labor Law (gratuity, leave), Dubai Land Department and RERA (property, DLD 4% transfer fee), UAE Central Bank (DBR, LTV), KHDA (school fees), and published visa and healthcare data. We update figures when regulations or market rates change. Calculator results are estimates only; actual entitlements, fees, and approvals depend on your specific situation, employer, bank, or authority.

Under UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law 33/2021, effective 2 February 2022), any employee who completes at least one year of continuous service earns end-of-service gratuity on basic salary — 21 days’ pay per year for the first five years and 30 days per year thereafter. The old sliding scale that cut gratuity for resignation before five years was abolished, so resigning no longer reduces your entitlement for completed years. Leave, notice periods, and other benefits also follow the Labour Law and your contract.

    Calculation Examples

Gratuity: If you resign after 3 years with AED 15,000 basic, you receive 21 days’ basic per year for the first 5 years (resigning no longer reduces gratuity). Three years × (21/365) × (15,000 × 12) ≈ AED 31,068. After 5 years, the rate becomes 30 days per year. Benefits: End-of-service entitlements are calculated on basic salary, not total package, so the split between basic and allowances in your contract materially changes the payout.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are these employment calculator results legally binding? No. They are illustrative. Gratuity and other entitlements depend on your contract, basic salary, and employer. Always confirm with your employer or MOHRE.

How often do you update employment data? We review UAE Labour Law and gratuity rules periodically and after notable regulatory changes. See our methodology and data-updates pages for detail.

Does resigning reduce my gratuity? No. Since Federal Decree-Law 33/2021 (effective 2 February 2022) the old scale that reduced gratuity for resignation before five years was abolished, so resigning no longer reduces your entitlement for completed years.
